|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The leon3 board is looking for u-boot.bin by default (LEON3_PROM_FILENAME).. But in the case this file is not found and no other file are given on the command line we get the following error: $ ./qemu-system-sparc -M leon3_generic qemu-system-sparc: Can't read bios image (null) So use LEON3_PROM_FILENAME instead of filename in case it is NULL to get a less cryptic message: $ ./qemu-system-sparc -M leon3_generic qemu-system-sparc: Can't read bios image 'u-boot.bin' Suggested-by: Mark Cave-Ayland <mark.cave-ayland@ilande.co.uk> Signed-off-by: KONRAD Frederic <frederic.konrad@adacore.com> Signed-off-by: Mark Cave-Ayland <mark.cave-ayland@ilande.co.uk>

* | elf: Add optional function ptr to load_elf() to parse ELF notesLiam Merwick2019-02-052-3/+6
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch adds an optional function pointer, 'elf_note_fn', to load_elf() which causes load_elf() to additionally parse any ELF program headers of type PT_NOTE and check to see if the ELF Note is of the type specified by the 'translate_opaque' arg. If a matching ELF Note is found then the specfied function pointer is called to process the ELF note. Passing a NULL function pointer results in ELF Notes being skipped. The first consumer of this functionality is the PVHboot support which needs to read the XEN_ELFNOTE_PHYS32_ENTRY ELF Note while loading the uncompressed kernel binary in order to discover the boot entry address for the x86/HVM direct boot ABI. * | loader: Check access size when calling rom_ptr() to avoid crashesThomas Huth2018-07-021-2/+2
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The rom_ptr() function allows direct access to the ROM blobs that we load during startup. However, there are currently no checks for the size of the accesses, so it's currently possible to crash QEMU for example with: $ echo "Insane in the mainframe" > /tmp/test.txt $ s390x-softmmu/qemu-system-s390x -kernel /tmp/test.txt -append xyz Segmentation fault (core dumped) $ s390x-softmmu/qemu-system-s390x -kernel /tmp/test.txt -initrd /tmp/test.txt Segmentation fault (core dumped) $ echo -n HdrS > /tmp/hdr.txt $ sparc64-softmmu/qemu-system-sparc64 -kernel /tmp/hdr.txt -initrd /tmp/hdr.txt Segmentation fault (core dumped) We need a possibility to check the size of the ROM area that we want to access, thus let's add a size parameter to the rom_ptr() function to avoid these problems. * sparc32_dma: introduce new SPARC32_DMA type container objectMark Cave-Ayland2017-10-311-34/+32Star
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Create a new SPARC32_DMA container object (including an appropriate container memory region) and add instances of the SPARC32_ESPDMA_DEVICE and SPARC32_LEDMA_DEVICE as child objects. The benefit is that most of the gpio wiring complexity between esp/espdma and lance/ledma is now hidden within the SPARC32_DMA realize function. Since the sun4m IOMMU is already QOMified we can find a reference to it using object_resolve_path_type() allowing us to completely remove all external references to the iommu pointer. Finally we rework sun4m's sparc32_dma_init() to invoke the new SPARC32_DMA object and wire up the remaining board memory regions/IRQs. * sun4m: move DMA device wiring from sparc32_dma_init() to sun4m_hw_init()Mark Cave-Ayland2017-10-311-13/+16
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | By using the sysbus interface it is possible to wire up the esp/le devices to the sun4m DMA controller directly during sun4m_hw_init() instead of passing qemu_irqs into the sparc32_dma_init() function. This is an intermediate step to allow further reorganisation as more logic is moved into the relevant SPARC32 DMA devices; there will be a final refactoring of sparc32_dma_init() once this work is complete. * sparc32_dma: split esp and le into separate DMA devicesMark Cave-Ayland2017-10-311-2/+1Star
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Due to slight differences in behaviour accessing the registers for the esp and le devices, create two separate SPARC32_DMA_DEVICE types and update the sun4m machine to use. Note that by using different device types we already know the size of the register block and the value of is_ledma at init time, allowing us to drop the SPARC32_DMA_DEVICE realize function and the is_ledma device property. * cpu: make cpu_generic_init() abort QEMU on errorIgor Mammedov2017-09-192-8/+0Star
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Almost every user of cpu_generic_init() checks for returned NULL and then reports failure in a custom way and aborts process. Some users assume that call can't fail and don't check for failure, though they should have checked for it. In either cases cpu_generic_init() failure is fatal, so instead of checking for failure and reporting it various ways, make cpu_generic_init() report errors in consistent way and terminate QEMU on failure.
