When suspending, there was a large list of warnings going something like:
Device 'machinecheck1' does not have a release() function, it is broken and must be fixed
This patch turns the static mce_devices into dynamically allocated, and
properly frees them when they are removed from the system. It solves
the warning messages on my laptop here.

Several platforms are now using the memblock_alloc+memblock_free+
memblock_remove trick to obtain memory which won't be mapped in the
kernel's page tables. Most platforms do this (correctly) in the
->reserve callback. However, OMAP has started to call these functions
outside of this callback, and this is extremely unsafe - memory will
not be unmapped, and could well be given out after memblock is no
longer responsible for its management.
So, provide arm_memblock_steal() to perform this function, and ensure
that it panic()s if it is used inappropriately. Convert everyone
over, including OMAP.
As a result, OMAP with OMAP4_ERRATA_I688 enabled will panic on boot
with this change. Mark this option as BROKEN and make it depend on
BROKEN. OMAP needs to be fixed, or 137d105d50 (ARM: OMAP4: Fix
errata i688 with MPU interconnect barriers.) reverted until such
time it can be fixed correctly.

This patch adds a check for the presence of the LPAE feature during the
CPU initialisation. If not present, it reports an error when
CONFIG_DEBUG_LL is enabled.

Since the arch/arm/mach-s3c2410/include/mach/system-reset.h has
been removed by commit f88b8979 ("ARM: restart: remove the now
empty arch_reset()"), so the inclusion of <mach/system-reset.h>
should be removed at the plat-s3c24xx/cpu.c file.
The build error happens like following:

As discussed earlier, it is better for block client to allocate memory for
tracking extents state before submitting bio. So the patch does it by allocating
a short_extent for every INVALID extent touched by write pagelist and for
every zeroing page we created, saving them in layout header. Then in end_io we
can just use them to create commit list items and avoid memory allocation there.

One bio can have at most BIO_MAX_PAGES pages. We should limit it bec otherwise
bio_alloc will fail when there are many pages in one read/write_pagelist.

The temp[1-*]_type attribute reports the temperature sensor type. Sensor type 1
is described as "PII/Celeron Diode", which is quite restrictive; other CPUs
may also have an embedded temperature sensor diode with similar characteristics.
Change description to "CPU embedded diode" to be more generic.

Until we get a datasheet for the IT8728F, treat it as fully compatible
with the IT8721F, as it seems to work reasonably well.

When writing the update_interval attribute, the parameter value was
not range checked, which could cause an integer overflow and result
in an arbitrary update interval. Fix by limiting the value range to
<0, 100000>.

The LM63 and compatible devices have a lookup table to control the fan
speed automatically. Expose it in sysfs. Values are cached for 5
seconds, independently of the other register values to avoid slowing
down "sensors". We might make the table values writable in the future.

On LM96163, the external temperature sensor type is configurable to
either a thermal diode or a 3904 transistor. The chip reports a wrong
temperature if misconfigured. Add writable attribute to support it.

On LM64, the external critical temperature limit is always writable. On LM96163,
it is writable if the chip is configured for it. Add conditional support for

This patch fixed the inconsistent max1111 sysfs interface as pointed
out by Jean Delvare:
It was pointed to me that the max1111 driver doesn't implement the
standard sysfs interface for hwmon drivers (as described in
Documentation/hwmon/sysfs-interface). It exports files adc[0-3]_in,
which
aren't part of the standard interface. Presumably these should be
renamed to in[0-3]_input. Renaming them is probably not sufficient
though, as I see no scaling done in the driver. As the MAX1111 chip has
a documented full scale of 2.048V, I take it that the LSB of the ADC
has a weight of 8 mV. Exporting raw register values to user-space is
not OK.

For compressed image, the space required is not known until
we finish compressing and writing all pages.
This patch drops the check, and if swap space is not enough
finally, system can still restore to normal after writing
swap fails for compressed images.

The governor functions in drivers/base/power/domain_governor.c
are only used if CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME is set and they refer to data
structures that are only present in that case. For this reason,
they shouldn't be compiled at all when CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME is not set.

After commit 1eb208aea3179dd2fc0cdeea45ef869d75b4fe70, "PM: Make
CONFIG_PM depend on (CONFIG_PM_SLEEP || CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME)", the
files under kernel/power are not built unless CONFIG_PM_SLEEP or
CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME is set. In particular, this causes
kernel/power/poweroff.c to be omitted, even though it should be
compiled, because CONFIG_MAGIC_SYSRQ is set.
Fix the problem by causing kernel/power/Makefile to be processed
for CONFIG_PM unset too.

This patch ensures that all semantic patches in the scripts/coccinelle
directory provide the report option. Report messages that include line
numbers now have the line number preceded by "line" for easier subsequent
processing.

devm_ functions allocate memory that is to remain allocated until the
device is detached. This patch checks for freeing of such memory using
standard memory freeing functions.
