Pull pwm changes from Thierry Reding:
"All legacy PWM providers have now been moved to the PWM subsystem.
The plan for 3.8 is to adapt all board files to provide a lookup table
for PWM devices in order to get rid of the global namespace.
Subsequently, users of the legacy pwm_request() and pwm_free()
functions can be migrated to the new pwm_get() and pwm_put()
functions. Once this has been completed, the legacy API and the
compatibility code in the core can be removed.
In addition to the above, these changes also add support for
configuring the polarity of a PWM signal (currently only supported on
ECAP and EHRPWM) and include a much needed rework of the i.MX driver.
Managed functions to obtain and release a PWM device (devm_pwm_get()
and devm_pwm_put()) have been added and the pwm-backlight driver has
been updated to use them. If the PWM subsystem hasn't been enabled,
dummy functions are provided that allow the subsystem to safely
compile out.
Some common checks on input parameters have been moved to the core and
removed from the drivers. Finally, a small fix corrects the
description of the PWM specifier's second cell in the device tree
representation."

The second cell in the PWM specifier denotes the period in nanoseconds,
not the duty cycle. The latter can be freely configured at runtime and
a PWM with a fixed duty cycle would be rather pointless.

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/nab/target-pending
Pull scsi target updates from Nicholas Bellinger:
"Things have been calm for the most part with no new fabric drivers in
flight for v3.7 (we're up to eight now !), so this update is primarily
focused on addressing a few long-standing items within target-core and
iscsi-target fabric code.
The highlights include:
- target: Simplify fabric sense data length handling (roland)
- qla2xxx: Fix endianness of task management response code (roland)
- target: fix truncation of mode data, support zero allocation length
(paolo)
- target: Properly support zero-length commands in normal processing
path (paolo)
- iscsi-target: Correctly set 0xffffffff field within ISCSI_OP_REJECT
PDU (ronnie + nab)
- iscsi-target: Add explicit set of cache_dynamic_acls=1 for TPG
demo-mode (ronnie + nab)
- target/file: Re-enable optional fd_buffered_io=1 operation (nab +
hch)
- iscsi-target: Add MaxXmitDataSegmenthLength forr target ->
initiator MDRSL declaration (nab)
- target: Add target_submit_cmd_map_sgls for SGL fabric memory
passthrough (nab + hch)
- tcm_loop: Convert I/O path to use target_submit_cmd_map_sgls (hch +
nab)
- tcm_vhost: Convert I/O path to use target_submit_cmd_map_sgls (nab
+ hch)
The last series for adding a new target_submit_cmd_map_sgls() fabric
caller (as requested by hch) that accepts pre-allocated SGL memory
(using existing logic), along with converting tcm_loop + tcm_vhost has
only been in -next for the last days, but has gotten enough review
+testing and is clear enough a mechanical change that I think it's
reasonable to merge for -rc1 code.
Thanks again to everyone who contributed this round! Extra special
thanks to Roland (PureStorage) for tracking down the qla2xxx target
TMR response code endian issue, and to Paolo (Redhat) for resolving
the long standing zero-length CDB issues within target-core between
virtual and pSCSI backends."

Every fabric driver has to supply a se_tfo->set_fabric_sense_len()
method, just so iSCSI can return an offset of 2. However, every fabric
driver is already allocating a sense buffer and passing it into the
target core, either via transport_init_se_cmd() or target_submit_cmd().
So instead of having iSCSI pass the start of its sense buffer into the
core and then later tell the core to skip the first 2 bytes, it seems
easier for iSCSI just to do the offset of 2 when it passes the sense
buffer into the core. Then we can drop the se_tfo->set_fabric_sense_len()
everywhere, and just add a couple of lines of code to iSCSI to set the
sense data length to the beginning of the buffer right before it sends
it over the network.
(nab: Remove .set_fabric_sense_len usage from tcm_qla2xxx_npiv_ops +
change transport_get_sense_buffer to follow v3.6-rc6 code w/o
->set_fabric_sense_len usage)

Andi removed some outedated documentation from Documentation/memory.txt
back in 2009 by commit 3b2b9a875ddc ("Documentation/memory.txt: remove
some very outdated recommendations"), but the resulting document is not
in a nice shape either.
It seems to me like we are not losing anything by completely removing the
file now.

page_evictable(page, vma) is an irritant: almost all its callers pass
NULL for vma. Remove the vma arg and use mlocked_vma_newpage(vma, page)
explicitly in the couple of places it's needed. But in those places we
don't even need page_evictable() itself! They're dealing with a freshly
allocated anonymous page, which has no "mapping" and cannot be mlocked yet.

While reading through Documentation/cgroups/memory.txt, I found a number
of minor wordos and typos. The patch below is a conservative handling of
some of these: it provides just a number of "obviously correct" fixes to
the English that improve the readability of the document somewhat.
Obviously some more significant fixes need to be made to the document, but
some of those may not be in the "obvious correct" category.

Provide rb_insert_augmented() and rb_erase_augmented() through a new
rbtree_augmented.h include file. rb_erase_augmented() is defined there as
an __always_inline function, in order to allow inlining of augmented
rbtree callbacks into it. Since this generates a relatively large
function, each augmented rbtree user should make sure to have a single
call site.

Introduce new augmented rbtree APIs that allow minimal recalculation of
augmented node information.
A new callback is added to the rbtree insertion and erase rebalancing
functions, to be called on each tree rotations. Such rotations preserve
the subtree's root augmented value, but require recalculation of the one
child that was previously located at the subtree root.
In the insertion case, the handcoded search phase must be updated to
maintain the augmented information on insertion, and then the rbtree
coloring/rebalancing algorithms keep it up to date.
In the erase case, things are more complicated since it is library
code that manipulates the rbtree in order to remove internal nodes.
This requires a couple additional callbacks to copy a subtree's
augmented value when a new root is stitched in, and to recompute
augmented values down the ancestry path when a node is removed from
the tree.
In order to preserve maximum speed for the non-augmented case,
we provide two versions of each tree manipulation function.
rb_insert_augmented() is the augmented equivalent of rb_insert_color(),
and rb_erase_augmented() is the augmented equivalent of rb_erase().

A long time ago, in v2.4, VM_RESERVED kept swapout process off VMA,
currently it lost original meaning but still has some effects:
| effect | alternative flags
-+------------------------+---------------------------------------------
1| account as reserved_vm | VM_IO
2| skip in core dump | VM_IO, VM_DONTDUMP
3| do not merge or expand | VM_IO, VM_DONTEXPAND, VM_HUGETLB, VM_PFNMAP
4| do not mlock | VM_IO, VM_DONTEXPAND, VM_HUGETLB, VM_PFNMAP
This patch removes reserved_vm counter from mm_struct. Seems like nobody
cares about it, it does not exported into userspace directly, it only
reduces total_vm showed in proc.
Thus VM_RESERVED can be replaced with VM_IO or pair VM_DONTEXPAND | VM_DONTDUMP.
remap_pfn_range() and io_remap_pfn_range() set VM_IO|VM_DONTEXPAND|VM_DONTDUMP.
remap_vmalloc_range() set VM_DONTEXPAND | VM_DONTDUMP.

Pull MIPS update from Ralf Baechle:
"This is the MIPS update for 3.7.
A fair chunk of them are platform updates to the Cavium Octeon SOC
(which involves machine generated header files of considerable size),
Atheros ATH79xx, RMI aka Netlogic aka Broadcom XLP, Broadcom BCM63xx
platforms.
Support for the commercial MIPS simulator MIPSsim has been removed as
MIPS Technologies is shifting away from this product and Qemu is
offering various more powerful platforms. The generic MIPS code can
now also probe for no-execute / write-only TLB features implemented
without the full SmartMIPS extension as permitted by the latest MIPS
processor architecture. Lots of small changes to generic code."

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tiwai/sound
Pull sound updates from Takashi Iwai:
"This contains pretty many small commits covering fairly large range of
files in sound/ directory. Partly because of additional API support
and partly because of constantly developed ASoC and ARM stuff.
Some highlights:
- Introduced the helper function and documentation for exposing the
channel map via control API, as discussed in Plumbers; most of PCI
drivers are covered, will follow more drivers later
- Most of drivers have been replaced with the new PM callbacks (if
the bus is supported)
- HD-audio controller got the support of runtime PM and the support
of D3 clock-stop. Also changing the power_save option in sysfs
kicks off immediately to enable / disable the power-save mode.
- Another significant code change in HD-audio is the rewrite of
firmware loading code. Other than that, most of changes in
HD-audio are continued cleanups and standardization for the generic
auto parser and bug fixes (HBR, device-specific fixups), in
addition to the support of channel-map API.
- Addition of ASoC bindings for the compressed API, used by the
mid-x86 drivers.
- Lots of cleanups and API refreshes for ASoC codec drivers and
DaVinci.
- Conversion of OMAP to dmaengine.
- New machine driver for Wolfson Microelectronics Bells.
- New CODEC driver for Wolfson Microelectronics WM0010.
- Enhancements to the ux500 and wm2000 drivers
- A new driver for DA9055 and the support for regulator bypass mode."
