Pull ARM SoC device tree updates from Olof Johansson:
"As always, a large number of DT updates. Too many to enumerate them
all, but at a glance:
New SoCs introduced in this release:
- Amlogic:
+ Meson 8M2 SoC, a.k.a. S812. A quad Cortex-A9 SoC used in some
set top boxes and other products.
- Mediatek:
+ MT7623A, which is a flavor of the MT7623 family with other
on-chip ethernet options.
- Qualcomm:
+ SDM845, a.k.a Snapdragon 845, an 4+4-core Kryo 385/845
(Cortex-A75/A55 derivative) SoC that's one of the current
high-end mobile SoCs.
It's great to see mainline support for it. So far, you can't do
much with it, since a lot of peripherals are not yet in the DTs
but driver support for USB, GPU and other pieces are starting to
trickle in. This might end up being a well-supported SoC
upstream if the momentum keeps up.
- Renesas:
+ R8A77990, a.k.a R-Car E3, a new automotive
entertainment-targeted SoC. Currently only one Cortex-A53 CPU is
enabled, we are eagerly awaiting more. So far, basic drivers
such as serial, gpios, PMU and ethernet are enabled.
+ R8A77470, a.k.a. RZ/G1C, a new dual Cortex-A7 SoC with PowerVR
GPU. Same here, basic set of drivers such as serial, gpios and
ethernet enabled, and SMP support is also forthcoming.
- STMicroelectronics:
+ STM32F469, very similar tih STM32F429 but with display support
Enhancements to SoCs/platforms (DTS contents, some driver portions
might not be in yet):
- Allwinner sun8i (h3/a33/a83t) SMP, DVFS tweaks, misc
- Amlogic Meson: I2C, UFS, TDM, GPIO external interrupts, MMC resets

This patch is a partial revert of

which has been causing eMMC corruption on my HiKey board.

And quite often this would result in a disk that wouldn't properly
boot even with older kernels.
It seems the max-frequency property added by the above patch is
causing the problem, so remove it.

Pull ARM SoC device tree updates from Arnd Bergmann:
"This is the usual set of changes for device trees, with over 700
non-merged changesets. There is an ongoing set of dtc warning fixes
and the usual bugfixes, cleanups and added device support.
The most interesting bit as usual is support for new machines listed
below:
- The Allwinner H6 makes its debut with the Pine-H64 board, and we
get two new machines based on its older siblings: the H5 based
OrangePi Zero+ and the A64 based Teres-I Laptop from Olimex. On the
32-bit side, we add The Olimex som204 based on Allwinner A20, and
the Banana Pi M2 Zero development board (based on H2).
- NVIDIA adds support for Tegra194 aka "Xavier", plus their p2972
development board and p2888 CPU module.
- The Nuvoton npcm750 is a BMC that was newly added, for now we only
support running on the evaluation board.
- STmicroelectronics stm32 gains support for the stm32mp157c and two
evaluation boards.
- The Toradex Colibri board family grows a few members based on the
i.MX6ULL variant.
- The Advantec DMS-BA16 is a Qseven module using the NXP i.MX6 family
of chips.
- The Phytec phyBOARD Mira is a family of industrial boards based on
i.MX6. For now, four models get added.
- TI am335x based PDU-001 is an industrial embedded machine used for
traffic monitoring
- The Aspeed platform now supports running on the BMC on the Qualcomm
Centriq 2400 server
- Samsung Exynos4 based Galaxy S3 is a family of mobile phones
Qualcomm msm8974 based Galaxy S5 is a rather different phone made
by the same company.
- The Xilinx Zynq and ZynqMP platforms now gained a lot of dts file
for the various boards made by Xilinx themselves, as well as the
Digilent Zybo Z7.
- The ARM Versatile family now supports the "IB2" interface board.
- The Renesas H2 based "Stout" and the H3 based Salvator-X are more
evaluation boards named after a kind of beer, as most of them are.
The r8a77980 (V3H) based "Condor" apparently doesn't follow that
tradition. ;-)
- ROC-RK3328-CC is a simple developement board from the Libre
Computer Project, based on the Rockchips RK3328 SoC
- Haiku is another development board plus Qseven module based on
Rockchips RK3368 and made by Theobroma Systems"

Thanks a lot for Vincent Guittot careful work to find bug for 'CPU_NAP'
idle state. At early time, the CPU CA73 CPU_NAP idle state has been
supported on Hikey960. Later we found the system has the hang issue
and for resolving this issue Hisilicon released new MCU firmware, but
unfortunately the new MCU firmware has side effect and results in the
CA73 CPU cannot really enter CPU_NAP state and roll back to WFI state.
After discussion we cannot see the possibility to enable CA73 CPU_NAP
state anymore on Hikey960, based on this conclusion we should remove
this state from DT binding.

The "cooling-min-level" and "cooling-max-level" properties are not
parsed by any part of the kernel currently and the max cooling state of
a CPU cooling device is found by referring to the cpufreq table instead.
Moreover, the entries are incorrect here as min level is 4 and the max
level is 0.
Remove the unused properties from the CPU nodes.

According to the hi6220 datasheet, the MMC controller is JEDEC eMMC 4.5
compliant, in addition to supporting a clock of up to 150MHz. The Hikey
schematic also indicates the device utilizes 1.8v signaling. Define these
parameters in the device tree to enable HS200 mode.

The HiSilicon erratum 161010801 describes the limitation of
HiSilicon platforms hip06/hip07 to support the SMMUv3 mappings
for MSI transactions.
PCIe controller on these platforms has to differentiate the
MSI payload against other DMA payload and has to modify the
MSI payload. This makes it difficult for these platforms to
have SMMU translation for MSI. In order to workaround this,
ARM SMMUv3 driver requires a quirk to treat the MSI regions
separately. Such a quirk is currently missing for DT based
systems and therefore we need to explicitly disable the
hip06/hip07 smmu entries in dts.

The following dt entries are added:

Those values were obtained by running dhrystone 2.1 on a
HiKey960 with the following procedure:
- Offline all CPUs but CPU0 (A53)
- Set CPU0 frequency to maximum
- Run Dhrystone 2.1 for 20 seconds
- Offline all CPUs but CPU4 (A73)
- set CPU4 frequency to maximum
- Run Dhrystone 2.1 for 20 seconds
The results are as follows:
A53: 129633887 loops
A73: 287034147 loops
By scaling those values so that the A73s use 1024, we end up with 462
for the A53s. However, they have different maximum frequencies:
1.844GHz for A53s and 2.362GHz for A73s. Thus, we can scale the A53
value to truly represent dmips per MHz, and we end up with 592.
The impact of this change can be verified on HiKey960:

cortex-a73 pmu driver is supported now. hi3660 is 4*a73 + 4*a53, so it
should use "cortex-a73-pmu" and "cortex-a53-pmu" instead of "armpmu-v3",
then we can use the a73 and a53 events in perf tool directly.

The hi6220-HiKey board started to name GPIO lines for
96boards, using just the plain names "GPIO-A" etc from the
96boards specification.
Poplar started to use an arbitrary "LS-GPIO-A" (etc) prefix
that is not part of the 96boards specification.
As the former notation arrived first, and we need
consistency among 96board, rectify the Poplar board to use
this too. This is important for userspace that wants to
look up GPIO names from these strings.

This adds line names for all the GPIOs I could identify on the HiKey960
schematic.
"GPIO-A" through "GPIO-L" are the most important since they give users
a handle to look up the standard 96boards GPIOs from the GPIO character
device.
The rest of the names are more informational, nice debug information
for "lsgpio" so you can see that the right line is taken for the right
function in the kernel for example.

For detailed coresight topology, Hi6220 has 8xCA53 CPUs and each CPU
has one Embedded Trace Macrocell (ETM); the CPU trace data is output
to the cluster funnel. Due system has another CPU and one MCU, all of
them transfer the trace data through trace bus (ATB) to SoC funnel;
the SoC funnel is connected to Embedded Trace FIFO (ETF) with 8KB
buffer; an non-configurable replicator is used to output trace data
for two sinks, one is Embedded Trace Route (ETR) so trace data can be
saved into DRAM, another is Trace Port Interface Unit (TPIU) for
capturing trace data by external debugger.
According to the Hi6220 coresight topology, this patch is to add
coresight dt nodes.

If CONFIG_OF_ALL_DTBS is enabled, "make ARCH=arm64 dtbs" compiles each
DTB twice; one from arch/arm64/boot/dts/*/Makefile and the other from
the dtb-$(CONFIG_OF_ALL_DTBS) line in arch/arm64/boot/dts/Makefile.
It could be a race problem when building DTBS in parallel.
Another minor issue is CONFIG_OF_ALL_DTBS covers only *.dts in vendor
sub-directories, so this broke when Broadcom added one more hierarchy
in arch/arm64/boot/dts/broadcom/<soc>/.
One idea to fix the issues in a clean way is to move DTB handling
to Kbuild core scripts. Makefile.dtbinst already recognizes dtb-y
natively, so it should not hurt to do so.
Add $(dtb-y) to extra-y, and $(dtb-) as well if CONFIG_OF_ALL_DTBS is
enabled. All clutter things in Makefiles go away.
As a bonus clean-up, I also removed dts-dirs. Just use subdir-y
directly to traverse sub-directories.

We need to add "clean-files" in Makfiles to clean up DT blobs, but we
often miss to do so.
Since there are no source files that end with .dtb or .dtb.S, so we
can clean-up those files from the top-level Makefile.

Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.
By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.
Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.
This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.
How this work was done:
Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
- file had no licensing information it it.
- file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
- file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,
Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.
The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.
The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
- Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
- Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
lines of source
- File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
lines).
All documentation files were explicitly excluded.
The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.
- when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
COPYING file license applied.
For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

and that resulted in the third patch in this series.
- when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
the concluded license(s).
- when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.
- In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).
- When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
- If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
in time.
In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.
Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.
In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.
Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
- a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
license ids and scores
- reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
- reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
SPDX license was correct
This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.
These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

There are two clusters on the Hi3660, the first one is Cortex-A53 based
and the other one is Cortex-A73 based. These two clusters have different
idle states.
Thanks to Daniel Lezcano's recent changes, the generic ARM cpuidle
driver can now support several clusters with different idle states, thus
supporting the big.Little architecture.
In addition to the WFI idle state which is the default shallowest state
for all ARM cpus, the Hi3660 supports the following states:
- CA53 CPUs:
- CPU_SLEEP: CPU power off state
- CLUSTER_SLEEP_0: Cluster power off state
- CA73 CPUs:
- CPU_NAP: CPU retention state
- CPU_SLEEP: CPU power off state
- CLUSTER_SLEEP_1: Cluster power off state
This patch adds the idle states description for the Hi3660 to the device
tree.

The current usb device g-tx-fifo-size setting in DT causes two problems
for kernel driver.
1. On hi6220, there are 15 tx_fifo dedicated for all EPs except EP0,
while DT only provides tx_fifo settings for 6 EPs. It results in the
following annoying complaints from kernel.

Besides of that, the total 1920 fifo entries isn't fully utilized.
Endpoint Info Control block consumes 128 entries, g-rx-fifo-size
is 512, and g-np-tx-fifo-size is 128. So the fifi entries available
for tx_fifo is: 1920 - 128 - 512 - 128 = 1152. Considering that
the minimal valid tx_fifo size for each EP is 16, it should be
reasonable to allocate 1152 entries as: 128 x 8 + 16 x 7 = 1136 (only
16 entries unused). With this new setting, we can get more EPs to
use while removing the above warning messages in the meantime.
2. Another consequence of above invalid g_tx_fifo_size parameter is that
kernel driver will use values read from hardware register as the
fall-back. The value is 2048 for each EP fifo. That's obviously
invalid either, because even fifo entries for one EP exceeds the
total entries 1920. That's why we see the following fat warning from
function dwc2_hsotg_init_fifo(). The new g-tx-fifo-size settings
help to remove the warning as well.
