This is dominated largely by the Samsung platforms (s3c, s5p, exynos) and a few of the others moving code out of arch/arm into more appropriate subsystems. The clocksource and irqchip drivers are now abstracted to the point where platforms that are already cleaned up do not need to even specify the driver they use, it can all get configured from the device tree as we do for normal device drivers. The clocksource changes basically touch every single platform in the process. We further clean up the use of platform specific header files here, with the goal of turning more of the platforms over to being "multiplatform" enabled, which implies that they cannot expose their headers to architecture independent code any more. It is expected that no functional changes are part of the cleanup. The overall reduction in total code lines is mostly the result of removing broken and obsolete code." * tag 'cleanup' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc: (133 commits) ARM: mvebu: correct gated clock documentation ARM: kirkwood: add missing include for nsa310 ARM: exynos: move exynos4210-combiner to drivers/irqchip mfd: db8500-prcmu: update resource passing drivers/db8500-cpufreq: delete dangling include ARM: at91: remove NEOCORE 926 board sunxi: Cleanup the reset code and add meaningful registers defines ARM: S3C24XX: header mach/regs-mem.h local ARM: S3C24XX: header mach/regs-power.h local ARM: S3C24XX: header mach/regs-s3c2412-mem.h local ARM: S3C24XX: Remove plat-s3c24xx directory in arch/arm/ ARM: S3C24XX: transform s3c2443 subirqs into new structure ARM: S3C24XX: modify s3c2443 irq init to initialize all irqs ARM: S3C24XX: move s3c2443 irq code to irq.c ARM: S3C24XX: transform s3c2416 irqs into new structure ARM: S3C24XX: modify s3c2416 irq init to initialize all irqs ARM: S3C24XX: move s3c2416 irq init to common irq code ARM: S3C24XX: Modify s3c_irq_wake to use the hwirq property ARM: S3C24XX: Move irq syscore-ops to irq-pm clocksource: always define CLOCKSOURCE_OF_DECLARE ...
| * | time: convert arch_gettimeoffset to a pointerStephen Warren2012-12-241-1/+5
| |/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Currently, whenever CONFIG_ARCH_USES_GETTIMEOFFSET is enabled, each arch core provides a single implementation of arch_gettimeoffset(). In many cases, different sub-architectures, different machines, or different timer providers exist, and so the arch ends up implementing arch_gettimeoffset() as a call-through-pointer anyway. Examples are ARM, Cris, M68K, and it's arguable that the remaining architectures, M32R and Blackfin, should be doing this anyway. Modify arch_gettimeoffset so that it itself is a function pointer, which the arch initializes. This will allow later changes to move the initialization of this function into individual machine support or timer drivers. This is particularly useful for code in drivers/clocksource which should rely on an arch-independant mechanism to register their implementation of arch_gettimeoffset(). This patch also converts the Cris architecture to set arch_gettimeoffset directly to the final implementation in time_init(), because Cris already had separate time_init() functions per sub-architecture. M68K and ARM are converted to set arch_gettimeoffset to the final implementation in later patches, because they already have function pointers in place for this purpose. * vfs: define struct filename and have getname() return itJeff Layton2012-10-131-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | getname() is intended to copy pathname strings from userspace into a kernel buffer. The result is just a string in kernel space. It would however be quite helpful to be able to attach some ancillary info to the string. For instance, we could attach some audit-related info to reduce the amount of audit-related processing needed. When auditing is enabled, we could also call getname() on the string more than once and not need to recopy it from userspace. This patchset converts the getname()/putname() interfaces to return a struct instead of a string. For now, the struct just tracks the string in kernel space and the original userland pointer for it. Later, we'll add other information to the struct as it becomes convenient. Signed-off-by: Jeff Layton <jlayton@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>

It uses the interface declarations as the previously separate pwm drivers, so nothing changes for now in the drivers using it, although it enables us to change those more easily in the future if we want to. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Does block_sigmask() + tracehook_signal_handler(); called when sigframe has been successfully built. All architectures converted to it; block_sigmask() itself is gone now (merged into this one). I'm still not too happy with the signature, but that's a separate story (IMO we need a structure that would contain signal number + siginfo + k_sigaction, so that get_signal_to_deliver() would fill one, signal_delivered(), handle_signal() and probably setup...frame() - take one). | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Oleg Nesterov found an interesting deadlock possibility: > sysrq_showregs_othercpus() does smp_call_function(showacpu) > and showacpu() show_stack()->decode_address(). Now suppose that IPI > interrupts the task holding read_lock(tasklist). To fix this, blackfin should not grab the write_ variant of the tasklist lock, read_ one is enough. * | blackfin: a couple of task->mm handling fixesAnton Vorontsov2012-06-011-13/+13
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The patch fixes two problems: 1. Working with task->mm w/o getting mm or grabing the task lock is dangerous as ->mm might disappear (exit_mm() assigns NULL under task_lock(), so tasklist lock is not enough). We can't use get_task_mm()/mmput() pair as mmput() might sleep, so we have to take the task lock while handle its mm. 2. Checking for process->mm is not enough because process' main thread may exit or detach its mm via use_mm(), but other threads may still have a valid mm. To catch this we use find_lock_task_mm(), which walks up all threads and returns an appropriate task (with task lock held). * blackfin: use set_current_blocked() and block_sigmask()Matt Fleming2012-05-221-13/+4Star
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | As described in e6fa16ab ("signal: sigprocmask() should do retarget_shared_pending()") the modification of current->blocked is incorrect as we need to check whether the signal we're about to block is pending in the shared queue. Also, use the new helper function introduced in commit 5e6292c0f28f ("signal: add block_sigmask() for adding sigmask to current->blocked") which centralises the code for updating current->blocked after successfully delivering a signal and reduces the amount of duplicate code across architectures. In the past some architectures got this code wrong, so using this helper function should stop that from happening again.
