| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Identical implementations of PTRACE_POKEDATA go into generic_ptrace_pokedata() function. AFAICS, fix bug on xtensa where successful PTRACE_POKEDATA will nevertheless return EPERM. * header cleaning: don't include smp_lock.h when not usedRandy Dunlap2007-05-081-1/+0Star
| | | | | | | | | | | | Remove includes of <linux/smp_lock.h> where it is not used/needed. Suggested by Al Viro. Builds cleanly on x86_64, i386, alpha, ia64, powerpc, sparc, sparc64, and arm (all 59 defconfigs). * [MIPS] Add basic SMARTMIPS ASE supportFranck Bui-Huu2007-02-221-0/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch adds trivial support for SMARTMIPS extension. This extension is currently implemented by 4KS[CD] CPUs. Basically it saves/restores ACX register, which is part of the SMARTMIPS ASE, when needed. This patch does *not* add any support for Smartmips MMU features. Futhermore this patch does not add explicit support for 4KS[CD] CPUs since they are respectively mips32 and mips32r2 compliant. So with the current processor configuration, a platform that has such CPUs needs to select both configs: CPU_HAS_SMARTMIPS SYS_HAS_CPU_MIPS32_R[12] This is due to the processor configuration which is mixing up all the architecture variants and the processor types. The drawback of this, is that we currently pass '-march=mips32' option to gcc when building a kernel instead of '-march=4ksc' for 4KSC case. This can lead to a kernel image a little bit bigger than required. Signed-off-by: Franck Bui-Huu <fbuihuu@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle <ralf@linux-mips.org>

| | | | | | | | | The struct mips_fpu_soft_struct and mips_fpu_hard_struct are completely same now and the kernel fpu emulator assumes that. * MIPS: DSP: eleminate used_dsp.Ralf Baechle2006-01-101-6/+2Star
| | | | | | | | | used_dsp was meant to be used like used_math - but since the FPU context is small and lazy context switching is a stupid idea on multiprocessors this idea only got halfway implemented and those bits are were now breaking ptrace. Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle <ralf@linux-mips.org>
* [PATCH] consolidate sys_ptrace()Christoph Hellwig2005-11-071-50/+5Star
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The sys_ptrace boilerplate code (everything outside the big switch statement for the arch-specific requests) is shared by most architectures. This patch moves it to kernel/ptrace.c and leaves the arch-specific code as arch_ptrace. Some architectures have a too different ptrace so we have to exclude them. They continue to keep their implementations. For sh64 I had to add a sh64_ptrace wrapper because it does some initialization on the first call. For um I removed an ifdefed SUBARCH_PTRACE_SPECIAL block, but SUBARCH_PTRACE_SPECIAL isn't defined anywhere in the tree. * | [AUDIT] Don't allow ptrace to fool auditing, log arch of audited syscalls.2005-04-291-10/+28
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We were calling ptrace_notify() after auditing the syscall and arguments, but the debugger could have _changed_ them before the syscall was actually invoked. Reorder the calls to fix that. While we're touching ever call to audit_syscall_entry(), we also make it take an extra argument: the architecture of the syscall which was made, because some architectures allow more than one type of syscall. Also add an explicit success/failure flag to audit_syscall_exit(), for the benefit of architectures which return that in a condition register rather than only returning a single register. Change type of syscall return value to 'long' not 'int'. Signed-off-by: David Woodhouse <dwmw2@infradead.org>

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
