* drm/i915: Adjust DSI fixed mode handlingVille Syrjälä2019-03-221-1/+0Star

* drm/i915/dsi: Fix pipe_bpp for handling for 6 bpc pixel-formatsHans de Goede2019-01-211-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | There are 3 problems with the dsi code's pipe_bpp handling for 6 bpc pixel-formats which this commit addresses: 1) It assumes that the pipe_bpp is the same as the bpp going over the dsi lanes. This assumption is not valid for MIPI_DSI_FMT_RGB666, where pipe_bpp should be 18 so that we do proper dithering but we actually send 24 bpp over the dsi lanes (MIPI_DSI_FMT_RGB666_PACKED sends 18 bpp). This assumption is enforced by an assert in *_dsi_get_pclk(). This assert triggers on the initial hw-state readback on BYT/CHT devices which use MIPI_DSI_FMT_RGB666, such as the Prowise PT301 tablet. PIPECONF is set to 6BPC / 18 bpp by the GOP, while mipi_dsi_pixel_format_to_bpp() returns 24. This commits switches the calculations in *_dsi_get_pclk() to use the bpp from mipi_dsi_pixel_format_to_bpp(intel_dsi->pixel_format) which returns the bpp going over the mipi lanes and drops the assert. 2) On BXT bxt_dsi_get_pipe_config() wrongly overrides the pipe_bpp which i9xx_get_pipe_config() reads from PIPECONF with the return value from mipi_dsi_pixel_format_to_bpp(). This avoids the assert from 1. but is wrong since the pipe is actually running at the value configured in PIPECONF. This commit drops the override of pipe_bpp from bxt_dsi_get_pipe_config(). 3) The dsi encoder's compute_config() never assigns a value to pipe_bpp, unlike most other encoders. Falling back on compute_baseline_pipe_bpp() which always picks 24. 24 is only correct for MIPI_DSI_FMT_RGB88 for the others we should use 18 bpp so that we correctly do 6bpc color dithering. This commit adds code to intel_dsi_compute_config() to properly set pipe_bpp based on intel_dsi->pixel_format. * drm/i915: Markup paired operations on display power domainsChris Wilson2019-01-141-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The majority of runtime-pm operations are bounded and scoped within a function; these are easy to verify that the wakeref are handled correctly. We can employ the compiler to help us, and reduce the number of wakerefs tracked when debugging, by passing around cookies provided by the various rpm_get functions to their rpm_put counterpart. This makes the pairing explicit, and given the required wakeref cookie the compiler can verify that we pass an initialised value to the rpm_put (quite handy for double checking error paths). * drm/i915/icl: Sanitize DDI port clock gating for DSI portsImre Deak2018-12-031-0/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The requirement for the DDI port clock gating for a port in DSI mode is the opposite wrt. the case when the port is in DDI mode: the clock should be gated when the port is active and ungated when the port is inactive. Note that we cannot simply keep the DDI clock gated when the port will be only used in DSI mode: it must be gated/ungated at a specific spot in the DSI enable/disable sequence. Ensure the above for all ports of a DSI encoder, also adding a sanity check that we haven't registered another encoder using the same port (VBT should never allow this to happen). * drm/i915: Determine DSI panel orientation from VBTVille Syrjälä2018-11-131-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | VBT appears to have two (or possibly three) ways to indicate the panel rotation. The first is in the MIPI config block, but that apparenly usually (maybe always?) indicates 0 degrees despite the actual panel orientation. The second way to indicate this is in the general features block, which can just indicate whether 180 degress rotation is used. The third might be a separate rotation data block, but that is not at all documented so who knows what it may contain. Let's try the first two. We first try the DSI specicic VBT information, and it it doesn't look trustworthy (ie. indicates 0 degrees) we fall back to the 180 degree thing. Just to avoid too many changes in one go we shall also keep the hardware readout path for now. If this works for more than just my VLV FFRD the question becomes how many of the panel orientation quirks are now redundant? v2: Move the code into intel_dsi.c (Jani) Cc: Hans de Goede <hdegoede@redhat.com> Reviewed-by: Jani Nikula <jani.nikula@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Ville Syrjälä <ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20181022142015.4026-1-ville.syrjala@linux.intel.com Tested-by: Hans de Goede <hdegoede@redhat.com>
* drm/i915/icl: Program HS_TX_TIMEOUT/LP_RX_TIMEOUT/TA_TIMEOUT registersMadhav Chauhan2018-10-311-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Program the timeout values (in escape clock) for HS TX, LP RX and TA timeout. HX TX: Ensure that host does not continuously transmit in the HS state. If this timer expires, then host will gracefully end its HS transmission and allow the link to enter into LP state. LP RX: Monitor the length of LP receptions from Peripheral. If timeout happens then host will drive the stop state onto all data lanes (only Data Lane 0 should be receiving anything from the Peripheral). This effectively takes back ownership of the bus transmit in the HS state. TA timeout: Timeout valuefor monitoring Bus Turn-Around (BTA) sequence. BTA sequence should complete within a bounded amount of time, with peripheral acknowledging BTA by driving the stop state. v2 by Jani: - Rebase - Use intel_dsi_bitrate() and intel_dsi_tlpx_ns(intel_dsi) - Squash HX TX, LP RX and TA timeout into one patch - Fix bspec mode set sequence reference - Add FIXME about two timeouts Signed-off-by: Madhav Chauhan <madhav.chauhan@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Jani Nikula <jani.nikula@intel.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/60e610ccffe5f8c09dee1c65828f28f25227efce.1540900289.git.jani.nikula@intel.com

* drm/i915/bxt: Fix DSI HW state readoutImre Deak2016-03-241-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Currently the machine hangs during booting while accessing the BXT_MIPI_PORT_CTRL register during pipe HW state readout. After some experimentation I found that the hang is caused by the DSI PLL being disabled, or it being enabled but with an incorrect divider configuration. Enabling the PLL got rid of the boot problem, so fix this by checking the PLL enabled state/configuration before attempting to read out the HW state. The DSI_PLL_ENABLE register is in the always-on power well, while the BXT_DSI_PLL_CTL is in power well 0. This isn't exactly matched by the transcoder power domain, but what we really need is just a runtime PM reference, which is provided by any power domain. Ville also found this dependency specified in BSpec, so I added a reference to that too. v2: - Make sure we hold a power reference while accessing the PLL registers. v3: (Jani) - Simplify check in bxt_get_dsi_transcoder_state() - Add comment explaining why we check for valid dividers in bxt_dsi_pll_is_enabled() CC: Shashank Sharma <shashank.sharma@intel.com> CC: Uma Shankar <uma.shankar@intel.com> CC: Jani Nikula <jani.nikula@intel.com> Fixes: c6c794a2fc5e ("drm/i915/bxt: Initialize MIPI DSI for BXT") Signed-off-by: Imre Deak <imre.deak@intel.com> Reviewed-by: Jani Nikula <jani.nikula@intel.com> Reviewed-by: Shashank Sharma <shashank.sharma@intel.com> Link: http://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/1458816100-31269-1-git-send-email-imre.deak@intel.com

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | A small step moving us closer to DRM MIPI DSI code. Use enum mipi_dsi_pixel_format instead of our own. The first benefit is being able to use common mipi_dsi_pixel_format_to_bpp(). | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We have serious dangling else bugs waiting to happen in our for_each_ style macros with ifs. Consider, for example, #define for_each_power_domain(domain, mask) \ for ((domain) = 0; (domain) < POWER_DOMAIN_NUM; (domain)++) \ if ((1 << (domain)) & (mask)) If this is used in context: if (condition) for_each_power_domain(domain, mask); else foo(); foo() will be called for each domain *not* in mask, if condition holds, and not at all if condition doesn't hold. Fix this by reversing the conditions in the macros, and adding an else branch for the "for each" block, so that other if/else blocks can't interfere. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add basic support for using the drm mipi dsi framework for DSI. We don't use device tree which is pretty much required by mipi_dsi_host_register and friends, and we don't have the kind of device model the functions expect either. So we cheat and use it as a library to abstract what we need: a nice, clean interface for DSI transfers.
