* iwlegacy: fix channel switch lockingStanislaw Gruszka2011-06-085-46/+28Star
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | We use priv->mutex to avoid race conditions between chswitch_done() and mac_channel_switch(), when marking channel switch in progress. But chswitch_done() can be called in atomic context from rx_csa() or with mutex already taken from commit_rxon(). To fix remove mutex from chswitch_done() and use atomic bitops for marking channel switch pending. * iwl4965: set tx power after rxon_assocStanislaw Gruszka2011-06-061-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Setting tx power can be deferred during scan or changing channel. If after that correct tx power settings will not be sent to device, we can observe transmission problems and timeouts. Force to send tx power settings also after partial rxon change, to assure device always be configured with up-to-date settings. * iwl4965: correctly validate temperature valueStanislaw Gruszka2011-06-011-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | In some cases we can read wrong temperature value. If after that temperature value will not be updated to good one, we badly configure tx power parameters and device is unable to send a data. This bug is only observable when software scan is used in IBSS mode, so should be considered as regression after: commit 0263aa45293838b514b8af674a03faf040991a90 Author: Stanislaw Gruszka <sgruszka@redhat.com> Date: Tue Mar 29 11:24:21 2011 +0200 iwl3945: disable hw scan by default However IBSS mode check, which this patch add again, was removed by commit b2f30e8bdd8ef5f3b5a7ef9146509585a15347d3 Author: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com> Date: Thu Jan 21 07:32:20 2010 -0800 iwlwifi: remove IBSS channel sanity check That commit claim that mac80211 will not use non-IBSS channel in IBSS mode, what definitely is not true. * | iwlegacy: fix bugs in change_interfaceJohannes Berg2011-03-291-0/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | If change_interface gets invoked during a firmware restart, it may crash; prevent that from happening by checking if ctx->vif is assigned. Additionally, in my initial commit I forgot to set the vif->p2p variable correctly, so fix that too. * | iwl3945: disable hw scan by defaultStanislaw Gruszka2011-03-291-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | After new NetworkManager 0.8.996 changes, hardware scanning is causing microcode errors as reported here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=683571 and sometimes kernel crashes: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=688252 Also with hw scan there are very bad performance on some systems as reported here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=671366 Since Intel no longer supports 3945, there is no chance to get proper firmware fixes, we need workaround problems by disable hardware scanning by default. * iwlwifi: remove duplicate initializationDan Carpenter2011-02-281-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | rate_mask is initialized again later so this can be removed. Btw, if rate_control_send_low(sta, priv_sta, txrc) returns false, that means that "sta" is non-NULL. That's why the second initialization of rate_mask is a little simpler than the first. * mac80211: make tx() operation return voidJohannes Berg2011-02-253-5/+3Star
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The return value of the tx operation is commonly misused by drivers, leading to errors. All drivers will drop frames if they fail to TX the frame, and they must also properly manage the queues (if they didn't, mac80211 would already warn). Removing the ability for drivers to return a BUSY value also allows significant cleanups of the TX TX handling code in mac80211. Note that this also fixes a bug in ath9k_htc, the old "return -1" there was wrong.
