| * x86: consolidate header guardsVegard Nossum2008-07-221-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch is the result of an automatic script that consolidates the format of all the headers in include/asm-x86/. The format: 1. No leading underscore. Names with leading underscores are reserved. 2. Pathname components are separated by two underscores. So we can distinguish between mm_types.h and mm/types.h. 3. Everything except letters and numbers are turned into single underscores. Signed-off-by: Vegard Nossum <vegard.nossum@gmail.com>
* | x86: prevent C-states hang on AMD C1E enabled machinesThomas Gleixner2008-09-231-0/+2
|/ | | | | | | | | | Impact: System hang when AMD C1E machines switch into C2/C3 AMD C1E enabled systems do not work with normal ACPI C-states even if the BIOS is advertising them. Limit the C-states to C1 for the ACPI processor idle code. Signed-off-by: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de>

* x86: fix sparse warnings in acpi/bus.cHarvey Harrison2008-02-091-0/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add function definition and extern variables to asm-x86/acpi.h. All of these are used in bus.c in ifdef(CONFIG_X86) sections, so are only added to the x86 include headers. boot.c already includes acpi.h so no changes are needed there. Fixes the following: arch/x86/kernel/acpi/boot.c:83:4: warning: symbol 'acpi_sci_flags' was not declared. Should it be static? arch/x86/kernel/acpi/boot.c:84:5: warning: symbol 'acpi_sci_override_gsi' was not declared. Should it be static? arch/x86/kernel/acpi/boot.c:421:13: warning: symbol 'acpi_pic_sci_set_trigger' was not declared. Should it be static? * x86: voluntary leave_mm before entering ACPI C3Venki Pallipadi2008-01-301-0/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Aviod TLB flush IPIs during C3 states by voluntary leave_mm() before entering C3. The performance impact of TLB flush on C3 should not be significant with respect to C3 wakeup latency. Also, CPUs tend to flush TLB in hardware while in C3 anyways. On a 8 logical CPU system, running make -j2, the number of tlbflush IPIs goes down from 40 per second to ~ 0. Total number of interrupts during the run of this workload was ~1200 per second, which makes it ~3% savings in wakeups. There was no measurable performance or power impact however. * x86: remove __init modifier from header declarationGlauber de Oliveira Costa2008-01-301-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch removes the __init modifier from an extern function declaration in acpi.h. Besides not being strictly needed, it requires the inclusion of linux/init.h, which is usually not even included directly, increasing header mess by a lot. * ACPI: Set max_cstate to 1 for early Opterons.Alexey Starikovskiy2007-11-261-0/+27
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | AMD Opteron processors before CG revision don't like C-states > 1.
