The format: 1. No leading underscore. Names with leading underscores are reserved. 2. Pathname components are separated by two underscores. So we can distinguish between mm_types.h and mm/types.h. 3. Unfortunately, several non-Intel x86 implementations, both hardware and software, don't obey this dictum. Instead, probe for NOPL directly by executing a NOPL instruction and see if we get #UD. As a result, PSE is optional rather than required (though still used whereever possible).
