* [NETFILTER]: nf_log: minor cleanupsPatrick McHardy2007-02-121-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | - rename nf_logging to nf_loggers since its an array of registered loggers - rename nf_log_unregister_logger() to nf_log_unregister() to make it symetrical to nf_log_register() and convert all users Signed-off-by: Patrick McHardy <kaber@trash.net> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

* [NET]: Turn nfmark into generic markThomas Graf2006-12-031-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | nfmark is being used in various subsystems and has become the defacto mark field for all kinds of packets. Therefore it makes sense to rename it to `mark' and remove the dependency on CONFIG_NETFILTER. Signed-off-by: Thomas Graf <tgraf@suug.ch> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* [NETFILTER]: x_tables: remove unused size argument to check/destroy functionsPatrick McHardy2006-09-221-1/+0Star
| | | | | | | The size is verified by x_tables and isn't needed by the modules anymore. Signed-off-by: Patrick McHardy <kaber@trash.net> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

* [NETFILTER]: ulog: fix panic on SMP kernelsMark Huang2006-08-141-0/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Fix kernel panic on various SMP machines. The culprit is a null ub->skb in ulog_send(). If ulog_timer() has already been scheduled on one CPU and is spinning on the lock, and ipt_ulog_packet() flushes the queue on another CPU by calling ulog_send() right before it exits, there will be no skbuff when ulog_timer() acquires the lock and calls ulog_send(). Cancelling the timer in ulog_send() doesn't help because it has already been scheduled and is running on the first CPU. Similar problem exists in ebt_ulog.c and nfnetlink_log.c. * [NETFILTER]: Rename init functions.Andrew Morton2006-03-291-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Every netfilter module uses `init' for its module_init() function and `fini' or `cleanup' for its module_exit() function. Problem is, this creates uninformative initcall_debug output and makes ctags rather useless. So go through and rename them all to $(filename)_init and $(filename)_fini. * [NETFILTER]: Fix undersized skb allocation in ipt_ULOG/ebt_ulog/nfnetlink_logPatrick McHardy2006-02-051-8/+12
| | | | | | | | The skb allocated is always of size nlbufsize, even if that is smaller than the size needed for the current packet. Signed-off-by: Patrick McHardy <kaber@trash.net> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
* [NETFILTER]: ULOG/nfnetlink_log: Use better default value for 'nlbufsiz'Holger Eitzenberger2006-02-051-1/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Performance tests showed that ULOG may fail on heavy loaded systems because of failed order-N allocations (N >= 1). The default value of 4096 is not optimal in the sense that it actually allocates _two_ contigous physical pages. Reasoning: ULOG uses alloc_skb(), which adds another ~300 bytes for skb_shared_info. This patch sets the default value to NLMSG_GOODSIZE and adds some documentation at the top. * [NETFILTER] x_tables: Abstraction layer for {ip,ip6,arp}_tablesHarald Welte2006-01-121-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This monster-patch tries to do the best job for unifying the data structures and backend interfaces for the three evil clones ip_tables, ip6_tables and arp_tables. In an ideal world we would never have allowed this kind of copy+paste programming... but well, our world isn't (yet?) ideal. o introduce a new x_tables module o {ip,arp,ip6}_tables depend on this x_tables module o registration functions for tables, matches and targets are only wrappers around x_tables provided functions o all matches/targets that are used from ip_tables and ip6_tables are now implemented as xt_FOOBAR.c files and provide module aliases to ipt_FOOBAR and ip6t_FOOBAR o header files for xt_matches are in include/linux/netfilter/, include/linux/netfilter_{ipv4,ipv6} contains compatibility wrappers around the xt_FOOBAR.h headers Based on this patchset we're going to further unify the code, gradually getting rid of all the layer 3 specific assumptions. * [NETFILTER]: Fix module_param types and permissionsPatrick McHardy2006-01-051-5/+5

* [NET]: Fix packet timestamping.Herbert Xu2005-10-031-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | I've found the problem in general. It affects any 64-bit architecture. The problem occurs when you change the system time. Suppose that when you boot your system clock is forward by a day. This gets recorded down in skb_tv_base. You then wind the clock back by a day. From that point onwards the offset will be negative which essentially overflows the 32-bit variables they're stored in. In fact, why don't we just store the real time stamp in those 32-bit variables? After all, we're not going to overflow for quite a while yet. When we do overflow, we'll need a better solution of course. * [NETFILTER]: Extend netfilter logging APIHarald Welte2005-08-301-9/+24
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch is in preparation to nfnetlink_log: - loggers now have to register struct nf_logger instead of nf_logfn - nf_log_unregister() replaced by nf_log_unregister_pf() and nf_log_unregister_logger() - add comment to ip[6]t_LOG.h to assure nobody redefines flags - add /proc/net/netfilter/nf_log to tell user which logger is currently registered for which address family - if user has configured logging, but no logging backend (logger) is available, always spit a message to syslog, not just the first time. - split ip[6]t_LOG.c into two parts: Backend: Always try to register as logger for the respective address family Frontend: Always log via nf_log_packet() API - modify all users of nf_log_packet() to accomodate additional argument Signed-off-by: Harald Welte <laforge@netfilter.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
