| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Currently, sctp associations latch a sockets autoclose value to an association at association init time, subject to capping constraints from the max_autoclose sysctl value. This leads to an odd situation where an application may set a socket level autoclose timeout, but sliently sctp will limit the autoclose timeout to something less than that. Fix this by modifying the autoclose setsockopt function to check the limit, cap it and warn the user via syslog that the timeout is capped. This will allow getsockopt to return valid autoclose timeout values that reflect what subsequent associations actually use. While were at it, also elimintate the assoc->autoclose variable, it duplicates whats in the timeout array, which leads to multiple sources for the same information, that may differ (as the former isn't subject to any capping). This gives us the timeout information in a canonical place and saves some space in the association structure as well. Some genetlink protocols we passing in constant counts for their ops array rather than something like ARRAY_SIZE(ops) or similar. Also, some genetlink protocols were using fixed IDs for their multicast groups. We have to retain these fixed IDs to keep existing userland tools working, but reserve them so that other multicast groups used by other protocols can not possibly conflict. In dealing with these two problems, we actually now use less state management for genetlink operations and multicast groups. 2) When configuring interface hardware timestamping, fix several drivers that simply do not validate that the hwtstamp_config value is one the driver actually supports. From Ben Hutchings. 3) Invalid memory references in mwifiex driver, from Amitkumar Karwar. 4) In dev_forward_skb(), set the skb->protocol in the right order relative to skb_scrub_packet(). Fix from Toshiaki Makita. 6) When detaching a bridge port, make sure to flush all VLAN IDs to prevent them from leaking, also from Toshiaki Makita. 7) Put in a compromise for TCP Small Queues so that deep queued devices that delay TX reclaim non-trivially don't have such a performance decrease. However, we better remove the BUG_ON for now and find a more suitable place to assert for these things as Mark reports that this also triggers the bug when duplication cookie processing happens, and the assoc is not part of the hash table (so all good in this case). Such a situation can for example easily be reproduced by: tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: prio bands 2 priomap 1 1 1 1 1 1 tc qdisc add dev eth0 parent 1:2 handle 20: netem loss 20% tc filter add dev eth0 protocol ip parent 1: prio 2 u32 match ip \ protocol 132 0xff match u8 0x0b 0xff at 32 flowid 1:2 This drops 20% of COOKIE-ACK packets. After some follow-up discussion with Vlad we came to the conclusion that for now we should still better remove this BUG_ON() assertion, and come up with two follow-ups later on, that is, i) find a more suitable place for this assertion, and possibly ii) have a special allocator/initializer for such kind of temporary assocs. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This fixes an outstanding bug found through IPVS, where SCTP packets with skb->data_len > 0 (non-linearized) and empty frag_list, but data accumulated in frags[] member, are forwarded with incorrect checksum letting SCTP initial handshake fail on some systems. Linearizing each SCTP skb in IPVS to prevent that would not be a good solution as this leads to an additional and unnecessary performance penalty on the load-balancer itself for no good reason (as we actually only want to update the checksum, and can do that in a different/better way presented here). The actual problem is elsewhere, namely, that SCTP's checksumming in sctp_compute_cksum() does not take frags[] into account like skb_checksum() does. So while we are fixing this up, we better reuse the existing code that we have anyway in __skb_checksum() and use it for walking through the data doing checksumming. This will not only fix this issue, but also consolidates some SCTP code with core sk_buff code, bringing it closer together and removing respectively avoiding reimplementation of skb_checksum() for no good reason. As crc32c() can use hardware implementation within the crypto layer, we leave that intact (it wraps around / falls back to e.g. slice-by-8 algorithm in __crc32c_le() otherwise); plus use the __crc32c_le_combine() combinator for crc32c blocks. Also, we remove all other SCTP checksumming code, so that we only have to use sctp_compute_cksum() from now on; for doing that, we need to transform SCTP checkumming in output path slightly, and can leave the rest intact. Check for the rare fragmentation condition in SCTP and use software checksum calculation in this case. Getting IPv6 addresses in TCP lookups currently requires two extra cache lines, plus a dereference (and memory stall). inet6_sk(sk) does the dereference of inet_sk(__sk)->pinet6 This patch is way bigger than its IPv4 counter part, because for IPv4, we could add aliases (inet_daddr, inet_rcv_saddr), while on IPv6, it's not doable easily. inet6_sk(sk)->daddr becomes sk->sk_v6_daddr inet6_sk(sk)->rcv_saddr becomes sk->sk_v6_rcv_saddr And timewait socket also have tw->tw_v6_daddr & tw->tw_v6_rcv_saddr at the same offset. Other people have seen this with OpenSwan. When IPsec is configured to encrypt all upper layer protocols the SCTP connection does not initialize. After using Wireshark to follow packets, this is because the SCTP packet leaves Box A unencrypted and Box B believes all upper layer protocols are to be encrypted so it drops this packet, causing the SCTP connection to fail to initialize. When IPsec is configured to encrypt just SCTP, the SCTP packets are observed unencrypted. Only in /proc/net/xfrm_stat we can see XfrmInTmplMismatch increasing on the receiver side. Initial follow-up analysis from Alan's bug report was done by Alexey Dobriyan. Also thanks to Vlad Yasevich for feedback on this. SCTP has its own implementation of sctp_v6_xmit() not calling inet6_csk_xmit(). This has the implication that it probably never really got updated along with changes in inet6_csk_xmit() and therefore does not seem to invoke xfrm handlers. SCTP's IPv4 xmit however, properly calls ip_queue_xmit() to do the work. Since a call to inet6_csk_xmit() would solve this problem, but result in unecessary route lookups, let us just use the cached flowi6 instead that we got through sctp_v6_get_dst(). Since all SCTP packets are being sent through sctp_packet_transmit(), we do the route lookup / flow caching in sctp_transport_route(), hold it in tp->dst and skb_dst_set() right after that. If we would alter fl6->daddr in sctp_v6_xmit() to np->opt->srcrt, we possibly could run into the same effect of not having xfrm layer pick it up, hence, use fl6_update_dst() in sctp_v6_get_dst() instead to get the correct source routed dst entry, which we assign to the skb. Also source address routing example from 625034113 ("sctp: fix sctp to work with ipv6 source address routing") still works with this patch! Nevertheless, in RFC5095 it is actually 'recommended' to not use that anyway due to traffic amplification [1]. So it seems we're not supposed to do that anyway in sctp_v6_xmit(). Moreover, if we overwrite the flow destination here, the lower IPv6 layer will be unable to put the correct destination address into IP header, as routing header is added in ipv6_push_nfrag_opts() but then probably with wrong final destination. If we don't find a local address, but we pass in an address length of more than 1, we may dereference a NULL laddr pointer. Currently this can't happen, as the only users of the function pass in the value 1 as the addrcnt parameter, but its not hot path, and it doesn't hurt to check for NULL should that ever be the case. The callpath from sctp_asconf_mgmt() looks okay. But this could be triggered from sctp_setsockopt_bindx() call with SCTP_BINDX_REM_ADDR and addrcnt > 1 while passing all possible addresses from the bind list to SCTP_BINDX_REM_ADDR so that we do *not* find a single address in the association's bind address list that is not in the packed array of addresses. If this happens when we have an established association with ASCONF-capable peers, then we could get a NULL pointer dereference as we only check for laddr == NULL && addrcnt == 1 and call later sctp_make_asconf_update_ip() with NULL laddr. BUT: this actually won't happen as sctp_bindx_rem() will catch such a case and return with an error earlier. As this is incredably unintuitive and error prone, add a check to catch at least future bugs here. As Neil says, its not hot path. He says: When SCTP makes forward progress (receives a SACK that acks new chunks, renegs, or answeres 0-window probes) or when HB-ACK arrives, mark the route as confirmed so we don't unnecessarily send NUD probes. Having a simple SCTP client/server that exchange data chunks every 1sec, without this patch ARP requests are sent periodically every 40-60sec. With this fix applied, an ARP request is only done once right at the "session" beginning. Also, when clearing the related ARP cache entry manually during the session, a new request is correctly done. I have only "backported" this to net-next and tested that it works, so full credit goes to Vlad. Those default flags (0) can be "unsafe": O_CLOEXEC must be used by default to not leak file descriptor across exec(). Instead of macro get_unused_fd(), functions anon_inode_getfd() or get_unused_fd_flags() should be used with flags given by userspace. If not possible, flags should be set to O_CLOEXEC to provide userspace with a default safe behavor. In a further patch, get_unused_fd() will be removed so that new code start using anon_inode_getfd() or get_unused_fd_flags() with correct flags. This patch replaces calls to get_unused_fd() with equivalent call to get_unused_fd_flags(0) to preserve current behavor for existing code. The hard coded flag value (0) should be reviewed on a per-subsystem basis, and, if possible, set to O_CLOEXEC. Therefore, get rid of this ifdef debugging code entirely for now. This makes the code more readable and conform to the kernel code, and offers all the features of dynamic debbuging that pr_debug() et al has, such as only turning on/off portions of debug messages at runtime through debugfs. The runtime cost of having CONFIG_DYNAMIC_DEBUG enabled, but none of the debug statements printing, is negligible [1]. If kernel debugging is completly turned off, then these statements will also compile into "empty" functions. While we're at it, we also need to change the Kconfig option as it /now/ only refers to the ifdef'ed code portions in outqueue.c that enable further debugging/tracing of SCTP transaction fields. Also, since SCTP_ASSERT code was enabled with this Kconfig option and has now been removed, we transform those code parts into WARNs resp. where appropriate BUG_ONs so that those bugs can be more easily detected as probably not many people have SCTP debugging permanently turned on. To turn on all SCTP debugging, the following steps are needed: # mount -t debugfs none /sys/kernel/debug # echo -n 'module sctp +p' > /sys/kernel/debug/dynamic_debug/control This can be done more fine-grained on a per file, per line basis and others as described in [2]. At least do this for our crypto transform through crypto_free_hash() that is allocated when in listening state. Also, perform sctp_put_port() only when sk is valid. At a later point in time we can still determine if there's an option of placing this into sk_prot->unhash() or sctp_endpoint_free() without any races. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Currently, SCTP code defines its own timeval functions (since timeval is rarely used inside the kernel by others), namely tv_lt() and TIMEVAL_ADD() macros, that operate on SCTP cookie expiration. We might as well remove all those, and operate directly on ktime structures for a couple of reasons: ktime is available on all archs; complexity of ktime calculations depending on the arch is less than (reduces to a simple arithmetic operations on archs with BITS_PER_LONG == 64 or CONFIG_KTIME_SCALAR) or equal to timeval functions (other archs); code becomes more readable; macros can be thrown out.
