* [bios] Add bin-x86_64-pcbios build platformMichael Brown2016-02-161-283/+0Star
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Move most arch/i386 files to arch/x86, and adjust the contents of the Makefiles and the include/bits/*.h headers to reflect the new locations. This patch makes no substantive code changes, as can be seen using a rename-aware diff (e.g. "git show -M5"). This patch does not make the pcbios platform functional for x86_64; it merely allows it to compile without errors. Signed-off-by: Michael Brown <mcb30@ipxe.org>
* [profile] Allow interrupts to be excluded from profiling resultsMichael Brown2014-05-041-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | Interrupt processing adds noise to profiling results. Allow interrupts (from within protected mode) to be profiled separately, with time spent within the interrupt handler being excluded from any other profiling currently in progress. Signed-off-by: Michael Brown <mcb30@ipxe.org>

* [pxe] Always retrieve cached DHCPACK and apply to relevant network deviceMichael Brown2013-10-251-70/+0Star
| | | | | | | | | | | | When chainloading, always retrieve the cached DHCPACK packet from the underlying PXE stack, and apply it as the original contents of the "net<X>.dhcp" settings block. This allows cached DHCP settings to be used for any chainloaded iPXE binary (not just undionly.kkpxe). This change eliminates the undocumented "use-cached" setting. Issuing the "dhcp" command will now always result in a fresh DHCP request. Signed-off-by: Michael Brown <mcb30@ipxe.org>
* [build] Work around bug in gcc >= 4.8Michael Brown2013-09-251-3/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Commit 238050d ("[build] Work around bug in gcc >= 4.8") works around one instance of a bug in recent versions of gcc, in which "ebp" cannot be specified within an asm clobber list. Some versions of gcc seem to exhibit the same bug on other points in the codebase. Fix by changing all instances of "ebp" in a clobber list to use the push/pop %ebp workaround instead. * [build] Use weak definitions instead of weak declarationsJoshua Oreman2010-05-271-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This removes the need for inline safety wrappers, marginally reducing the size penalty of weak functions, and works around an apparent binutils bug that causes undefined weak symbols to not actually be NULL when compiling with -fPIE (as EFI builds do). A bug in versions of binutils prior to 2.16 (released in 2005) will cause same-file weak definitions to not work with those toolchains. Update the README to reflect our new dependency on binutils >= 2.16. Signed-off-by: Joshua Oreman <oremanj@rwcr.net> Signed-off-by: Michael Brown <mcb30@ipxe.org>
* [librm] Use libflat to enable A20 line on each real-to-protected transitionMichael Brown2010-04-201-10/+0Star
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Use the shared code in libflat to perform the A20 transitions automatically on each transition from real to protected mode. This allows us to remove all explicit calls to gateA20_set(). The old warnings about avoiding automatically enabling A20 are essentially redundant; they date back to the time when we would always start hammering the keyboard controller without first checking to see if gate A20 was already enabled (which it almost always is). * [build] Rename gPXE to iPXEMichael Brown2010-04-202-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | Access to the gpxe.org and etherboot.org domains and associated resources has been revoked by the registrant of the domain. Work around this problem by renaming project from gPXE to iPXE, and updating URLs to match. Also update README, LOG and COPYRIGHTS to remove obsolete information. * [pxe] Support cached DHCP packets in .kkpxe imagesJoshua Oreman2010-01-201-0/+69
| | | | | | | | | | | | If we don't unload the PXE stack before executing gPXE, automatically take advantage of the cached DHCPACK that the underlying/parent PXE stack can provide. If that cached DHCPACK contains option 175.178, or the user sets the use-cached setting before invoking DHCP, the real DHCP request will be skipped and the cached DHCPACK will be used for network configuration. Otherwise, the cached settings block is thrown away as soon as a fresh one is acquired. Signed-off-by: Marty Connor <mdc@etherboot.org>
* [pxe] Separate parent PXE API caller from UNDINET driverJoshua Oreman2010-01-201-0/+201
Calling the parent PXE stack (the stack that loaded us, for undionly.kkpxe) can be useful for more than UNDI calls; for instance, it lets us get cached DHCP packets to avoid re-DHCP when working with embedded images. Signed-off-by: Marty Connor <mdc@etherboot.org>
