As part of an attempt to slim down the inode structure to save memory --- since a typical Linux system will have hundreds of thousands if not millions of inodes cached, a reduction in the size inode has high leverage. The firewire driver does not need i_cindex in any fast path, so it's simple enough to calculate when it is needed, instead of wasting space in the inode structure. That erratum has been fixed in the BIOS so remove the quirk. The quirk also kept us from profiling interrupts that hit the ACPI idle instruction - so this is an improvement as well, beyond a cleanup and a micro-optimization. Except we don't. x86 NMI/INT throttling has non-nested use of this, breaking things. Therefore provide a reference counter disable/enable interface, where the first disable disables the hardware, and the last enable enables the hardware again.
