| * block: remove CONFIG_LBDAFChristoph Hellwig2019-04-063-3/+0Star
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Currently support for 64-bit sector_t and blkcnt_t is optional on 32-bit architectures. These types are required to support block device and/or file sizes larger than 2 TiB, and have generally defaulted to on for a long time. Enabling the option only increases the i386 tinyconfig size by 145 bytes, and many data structures already always use 64-bit values for their in-core and on-disk data structures anyway, so there should not be a large change in dynamic memory usage either. Dropping this option removes a somewhat weird non-default config that has cause various bugs or compiler warnings when actually used. * configs: get rid of obsolete CONFIG_ENABLE_WARN_DEPRECATEDAlexey Brodkin2019-03-082-2/+0Star
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This Kconfig option was removed during v4.19 development in commit 771c035372a0 ("deprecate the '__deprecated' attribute warnings entirely and for good") so there's no point to keep it in defconfigs any longer. * crypto: x86 - remove SHA multibuffer routines and mcryptdArd Biesheuvel2018-09-0412-12/+0Star
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | As it turns out, the AVX2 multibuffer SHA routines are currently broken [0], in a way that would have likely been noticed if this code were in wide use. Since the code is too complicated to be maintained by anyone except the original authors, and since the performance benefits for real-world use cases are debatable to begin with, it is better to drop it entirely for the moment. * crypto: speck - remove SpeckJason A. Donenfeld2018-09-0412-12/+0Star
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | These are unused, undesired, and have never actually been used by anybody. The original authors of this code have changed their mind about its inclusion. While originally proposed for disk encryption on low-end devices, the idea was discarded [1] in favor of something else before that could really get going. Therefore, this patch removes Speck. Several are user-visible changes, but bring us in to line with x86 behaviour and/or fix outright bugs. Thanks to Florian Weimer for reporting many of these. - A series to improve the hvc driver & related OPAL console code, which have been seen to cause hardlockups at times. The hvc driver changes in particular have been in linux-next for ~month. - Increase our MAX_PHYSMEM_BITS to 128TB when SPARSEMEM_VMEMMAP=y. - Remove Power8 DD1 and Power9 DD1 support, neither chip should be in use anywhere other than as a paper weight. - An optimised memcmp implementation using Power7-or-later VMX instructions - Support for barrier_nospec on some NXP CPUs. - Support for flushing the count cache on context switch on some IBM CPUs (controlled by firmware), as a Spectre v2 mitigation. - A series to enhance the information we print on unhandled signals to bring it into line with other arches, including showing the offending VMA and dumping the instructions around the fault.
